The Philosophy of Peter Herrero Jr.

Peter Herrero Jr. is CEO of the NY Hospitality Group, which operates Sam’s of Gedway, Caperberry Events Catering, The Great American BBQ catering company, nd the century-old CV Rich Mansion.

With 36 years of hands-on experience, Herrero built his expertise by working his way up from dishwasher to manager across a variety of restaurants and catering halls. In 1986, he purchased Sam’s Saloon and transformed it into Sam’s of Gedney Way. What began as a 16-person operation soon expanded, with the launch of Great American BBQ Co. in 1995 and Caperberry Events in 1996, marking the start of a growing family of successful ventures.

He noted that the best thing about leading a staff that now comprises 42 full-time employees (plus 38 part-timers) is “seeing people grow and fulfill their dreams. For instance, the young man from India who had no restaurant experience that Herrero hired as a busboy, who, within nine months, was promoted to waiter. He’s now married with three kids and owns a co-op in White Plains.
